MAINTENANCE MANAGER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance engineers, maintenance mechanics, Process Technicians and oversees the work of out-side contractors.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
  • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
  • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
  • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
  • Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, or outside contractors.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
  • Implement and maintain an Preventive Maintenance program for all molding machines and auxiliary equipment i.e vacuum loader, chiller and compressors.
  • Submission of capital projects for approval.
  • Maintain parts inventory.
  • Lead and Maintain ISO 14001

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.  Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

Prefer college degree in engineering or industrial technology plus 5 years related experience and/or training in a maintenance department of a manufacturing facility with 2 to 5 years of management experience.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.  Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.  Providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: 

Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: 

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.  The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 

Under general direction, working from policies and general directives. Rarely refers specific cases to supervisor unless clarification or interpretation of the organization's policy is required.

PLANNING: 

Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.

DECISION MAKING: 

Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

MENTAL DEMAND: 

Very close mental demand. Operations requiring very close and continuous attention for control of operations require a high degree of coordination or immediate response. Operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the organization's administration and operations; also to determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING: 

The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).  Job requires analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems

USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS:  

Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.  Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

ACCURACY: 

The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.  Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.

PUBLIC CONTACT:

Regular contacts with patrons where the contacts are initiated by the employee. Involves both furnishing and obtaining information and, also, attempting to influence the decisions of those persons contacted. Contacts of considerable importance and of such nature, that failure to exercise proper judgment may result in important tangible or intangible losses to the organization.

EMPLOYEE CONTACT: 

Contacts with other departments or offices and also frequently with individuals in middle level positions; consulting on problems which necessitate judgment and tact in presentation to obtain cooperation or approval of action to be taken. Also, important contacts with associates as required in advanced supervisory jobs, plus frequent contact with senior level internal officials.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED: 

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.  Proficiency using an Internet browser.   Use of Plant Star software.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.  Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this position an individual is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, varying temperature levels, and a noisy environment.  The position could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.
