Non-Diesel Fleet Mechanic (Business/Fleet Vehicles)
Location: Murray, KY • Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role
PTL is seeking a hands-on Non-Diesel Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our light/medium-duty gasoline fleet (vans, pickups, service trucks, small box trucks—no heavy diesel). You’ll handle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs that keep our vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for work.
What You’ll Do

  • Perform scheduled PM services (oil/filter changes, fluid checks, belts/hoses, tire rotation/balance, brake inspections).

  • Diagnose and repair gasoline engine, drivetrain, brakes, steering/suspension, cooling, HVAC, and basic electrical systems.

  • Use scan tools and service information to troubleshoot MIL/driveability concerns.

  • Complete multipoint inspections and document findings; create parts lists and repair orders.

  • Mount/balance tires; perform alignments (if equipped).

  • Maintain shop cleanliness, safety, and tool control; follow OSHA/lockout procedures.

  • Road-test vehicles to verify concerns/repairs; occasional mobile/lot repairs.

  • Track work in the fleet maintenance system (work orders, time, parts).

  • Communicate clearly with operations on vehicle status and ETAs.
What You’ll Need

  • 2+ years of professional auto/light-truck maintenance & repair (fleet experience a plus).

  • Strong knowledge of gasoline systems (no diesel required).

  • Proficient with diagnostic equipment, DVOM, torque specs, service data.

  • Own basic hand tools; company provides major/specialty tools & equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs, stand/bend for extended periods, and work in a shop environment.

  • Reliability, attention to detail, and clear communication.
Nice to Have (Preferred)

  • ASE certifications (A1–A8) or equivalent; EVAP/driveability strengths.

  • Experience with fleet software and parts sourcing.

  • Light fabrication, wiring repair, and A/C certification (EPA 609).
Schedule & Pay

  • Schedule: Full-time, primarily 1st shift (e.g., 7:00/8:00 AM – 4:00/5:00 PM); occasional OT as needed.

  • Pay: $–$ per hour (DOE) + OT.
Screening

  • Pre-employment drug screen and MVR check; background per company policy.

  • Work authorization in the U.S.
