Cost Accountant

Seeking a entry level Cost Accountant that will be responsible for developing product cost information, financial reporting, and analysis of all product lines, inventory tracking and control, and gross margin.

This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and is a key member of our manufacturing management team.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor and overhead 
• Defining various product and operational costs; Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs 
• Making estimates of proposed product standard costs; maintaining costs in system 
• Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
• Reconciling raw materials, work-in-progress and finished-goods inventories; Monitoring unit cost variance
• Assisting in Month end and Annual close of the General Ledger
• Work with the Accounting Manager to investigate, correct, and follow up on any inaccuracies identified 
• Provide support to Accounting Manager and Controller as requested; Assist with accounting projects

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required or completion of Junior-level accounting courses with an established graduation track. 
• Must have excellent analytical skills and sound understanding of accounting principles. 
• Must have strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word.
