Hospital Cook

Location: Paducah, KY

Salary: $16 - $18 per hour

 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our culinary team at a reputable local hospital in Paducah, KY. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of cooking experience, with a preference for those who have worked in a medical or institutional setting. This role requires a passion for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that cater to the dietary needs of our patients and staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including special dietary and therapeutic diets, ensuring quality and adherence to prescribed nutritional guidelines.
  • Menu Adherence: Follow standardized recipes and menus while ensuring portion control and presentation standards.
  • Food Safety: Adhere to all food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handling, storage, and cleanliness to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing kitchen inventory, including ordering, receiving, and organizing food supplies while minimizing waste.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, performing regular maintenance and cleaning as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with dietary staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to accommodate patient dietary needs and preferences.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, health regulations, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional cooking experience required. Experience in a medical or institutional setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Proficiency in cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food preparation methods. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of dietary restrictions and nutritional requirements is a plus.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
