Overview for Quality Managerr: (Full-Time, Long-Term, Career Position)
The Quality Manager oversees, interacts with, and supports the Quality Technicians in day-to-day inspections, testing, audits, quality reporting, handling of nonconforming product, problem-solving and decision-making to ensure all products are of acceptable quality to satisfy the intended needs of customers.
Duties for Quality Manager:
- Oversee Quality Technicians to ensure all duties and tasks are completed, and records are maintained accurately during each shift.
- Be proficient in the duties and responsibilities of the Quality Technicians, and provide technical support and coverage as needed.
- Maintain work schedules to support production, approve timecards and approve time off.
- Ensure test equipment and measuring devices are verified and calibrated as scheduled.
- Assist with the identification and development of work instructions, procedures and processes needed to support the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Investigate product or process nonconformances and communicate them to Production Supervision and next level Management as needed.
- Ensure that nonconforming material is clearly identified, documented accurately, and dispositioned appropriately.
- Maintain operating supplies inventory for paint and labs
Skills for Quality Manager:
- A minimum of five years of quality assurance or technical work experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong leadership skills and experience supervising a team are required.
- Bachelor’s degree and ASQ certification are preferred.
- Must be able to pass a color perception test, as this position demands close visual color inspections and the ability to make critical color judgment decisions.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems
- Experience working with various lab instrumentation and measuring tools.
- Requires attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Requires planning and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks on multiple products.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
